Description
Palau de la Musica Catalana – A Jewel of Modernist Design
Tucked into a side street in El Born, the Palau de la Musica Catalana is easy to miss from the outside—but step inside, and you’ll find one of Barcelona’s most stunning buildings. A masterpiece of Catalan modernism, it’s an explosion of stained glass, mosaics, sculpted stone, and intricate ironwork.
Designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, the concert hall opened in 1908 and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The main performance space is crowned by a massive stained-glass skylight that seems to float like a sunburst.
You can book a tour or—better yet—attend a live performance and let the music bring the space to life. From flamenco and folk to classical and jazz, the Palau is a space where art and architecture sing in harmony.
